Other Things Happening Behind the Election Battle

Dagny

Tucker Carlson Commentary on the situation:

Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program.

No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer.

Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war.

To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha.

The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent.

A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people. And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to.

An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final.

We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it.

Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made. They’re right, though it won’t be simple.

The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making.

One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

Ted Cruz sorta admits "We've done something wildly wrong."

Video has resurfaced of the “Texas” senator insisting the Iran War would prove quick and easy, showing him saying the conflict extending into November would mean it was a failure.

Ted Cruz: Traitor to America

"I don't believe that what is happening in Iran will be front and center in November,” Cruz said in an interview released March 23. “If it extends that long, we've done something wildly wrong… The president said at the beginning this is going to be a matter of several weeks."

🇮🇷🇮🇱 Netanyahu’s top general resists attempts to restart war with Iran – report

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has ostensibly refused to carry out an unspecified military action that could "trigger a rapid escalation into a confrontation with Iran," Israeli Channel 12 reported on October 25.

Zamir sought further deliberations and a written authorization for the op, with Israeli generals suspecting that their country’s leadership may be attempting to “utilize the Iranian issue for political benefit.”

Netanyahu himself vehemently denied the report and insisted that Zamir himself said that Iran allegedly sought to interfere in the Israeli election.

Earlier last week, Israeli Channel 13 reported that Zamir said that he does think it is necessary to attack Iran before the elections in Israel.

🔊 "We do not see any indications of a need to strike Iran before the elections. If we determine that a strike on Iran is necessary, we will strike," Zamir remarked.

This development takes place amid speculation that Netanyahu may be seeking to resume the war with Iran, either to boost his chances of reelection or to delay the election.

Some online sleuths even claim that recent flights from Israel to Cyprus may indicate an ongoing evacuation of high-ranking Israeli officials ahead of a new round of Israel-Iran fighting.

Will Bibi walk away? Pardon offered in exchange for quitting politics

Israeli PM Netanyahu has been offered a full exit from political life in return for the corruption charges against him being dropped, according to Israeli Channel 14, President Herzog reportedly made this proposal.

The deal may be just a possible path to forming a new cabinet amid post-election uncertainty, but vote counting is still underway.

The corruption probe into Netanyahu has dragged on for 10 years. Israeli PM is suspected of accepting expensive gifts in exchange for favours and of helping media moguls secure favourable coverage of his activities.

Israel seeking to provoke Iran into resuming the hot war.

🇮🇱❌🇮🇷🇺🇸 — CONFIRMED: Dozens of Israeli fighter jets flew toward Iran's border on Monday in what Israel described as a deterrence exercise.

However, some U.S. officials suspected Israel was deliberately trying to provoke Iran into firing at its aircraft, potentially providing a justification for renewed strikes against Iran.

The operation followed reports that Netanyahu had urged Trump to consider another attack on Iran.

Iraq cuts land routes to Iran like Pakistan did

US pressures Iraq to cut land routes to Iran

Iraq closed the Al-Sheeb crossing in Maysan province to travelers, vehicles, and commercial trucks this week. The US had reportedly demanded the closure, proposing that only two crossings remain open: one in the north and one in central Iraq.

The Iraqi government denies the move was dictated from abroad, attributing it to technical shortcomings and security upgrades. But the timing suggests a calculated concession rather than a purely administrative decision, the Cradle reports.

➡️   Al-Sheeb handled roughly 600 trucks a day, carrying vegetables, ceramics, white cement, and reinforcing steel, and processed some 1.5 million travelers a year

➡️ Iranian exports to Iraq were estimated at nearly $12 billion last year, making Iraq one of Iran's most important export markets

Local markets have reportedly seen prices rise, and the provincial council has threatened civil disobedience and road closures unless the crossing reopens.

The pressure on Iraq is part of a wider pattern. The US has reportedly asked other countries bordering Iran to take similar measures, while trying to choke off the overland routes that let Iran bypass maritime restrictions. Earlier this month, the Trump administration pushed to close Pakistan's border with Iran as well, threatening sanctions. However, a week later the border was reopened.

Iraq, caught between its dependence on US financial channels and its deep economic ties to Iran, is being forced to choose. For now, it appears to be offering Trump a concession at a manageable price, closing one trade route while leaving others untouched.

Why did Pakistan close its border with Iran?

Pakistan is dealing with a serious LPG shortage and sharply rising prices after it suddenly shut its main border crossings with Iran on October 17. The country depends on imports for 50–70% of its LPG supply, mostly about 7,000 metric tons a day from Iran. With winter coming, six thousand trucks are stuck at the Gabd-Rimdan and Taftan border crossings.

Pakistani officials say they are taking "security and anti-smuggling measures," and the Interior and Foreign Ministries have stayed silent, but Iran's ambassador, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said on X that Iran has no export limits and called a self-imposed closure illogical.

Analysts point to a deeper geopolitical reason: Pakistan is giving in to pressure from the US. Under its "Operation Economic Outcast" policy, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant has in the past threatened tough secondary sanctions for trading with Iran. A source told Geo Prime that the Trump administration cancelled Pakistan's undeclared waiver to put maximum pressure on Iran before the US midterm elections.

The timeline reveals a strategic deadlock:

🔴 The Leverage: Pakistan closed the border without notifying Iran, disrupting the national supply chain as a bargaining chip on behalf of the US.

🔴 The Mission: Days later, Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Tehran, presumably delivering a message from the Trump administration.

🔴 The Stalemate: Because Iran refused to show flexibility, the borders remain closed.

The Gwadar Chamber of Commerce warned that the blockade has severely disrupted the national LPG supply chain, leaving citizens to bear the brunt of soaring energy costs.

🇪🇺 Empty supermarket shelves Cyber Attack

Supermarkets across Sweden, Belgium and Luxembourg have been forced to discard spoiled food after suspected cyberattacks sent refrigeration temperatures soaring, in some cases to 50°C (122°F), leaving affected refrigerated sections empty.

The incidents follow a similar attack in France last month, when hundreds of stores lost refrigerated stock, with industry losses estimated at tens of millions of euros.

The disruptions come amid protests over living costs and mounting political tensions across Europe, adding fresh pressure on retailers already facing economic uncertainty.

Investigators are examining vulnerabilities in remotely controlled refrigeration systems. The attackers remain unidentified.

FBI officially pins $6.3B Binance heist on North Korean hackers

The FBI has blamed North Korea for the theft of more than $6 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance, identifying the operation as the work of a hacking group known as TraderTraitor.

The hackers are converting the stolen assets primarily into Ethereum before attempting to launder them through DeFi platforms and instant-swap services, the bureau said in a statement.

Hours after the hack, North Korea was already being pointed to as the culprit by blockchain analytics firms TRM Labs and Pangolin Intelligence.

While North Korea’s responsibility for the latest breach remains an allegation, DPRK is believed to have built one of the world’s most formidable cyber operations.

Key elements of its cyber strategy, according to the FBI and cybersecurity experts:

♦️ young academic talent is identified early, groomed in mathematics, computer science and cybersecurity, then given years of specialist training before joining intel agencies such as the Reconnaissance General Bureau

♦️ with limited domestic internet access, North Korean operatives reportedly work from abroad, particularly in Southeast Asia

♦️ operatives use false identities, foreign IP addresses and local accomplices to conceal their origins and access international financial system

♦️ some infiltrate foreign companies through fake remote-worker identities, earning salaries and potentially gaining access to corporate networks

After gaining notoriety with the 2014 Sony Pictures hack, North Korean-linked groups’ alleged financial haul included $620mn from the Ronin network in 2022, $308mn from Japan's DMM Bitcoin in 2024 and $1.5bn from Bybit in 2025.

Anthropic warns its AI could help develop chemical and biological weapons

US AI developer Anthropic has acknowledged that its most advanced models could help malicious actors develop dangerous weapons, including chemical and biological weapons, in its IPO registration filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

🔊 “Our most capable models have demonstrated, and future models are expected to demonstrate, capabilities that could provide meaningful assistance to malicious actors seeking to develop chemical, biological, or other dangerous weapons,” the company warned.

Anthropic also admitted that its protective measures are imperfect and have already been bypassed, raising concerns about the effectiveness of measures intended to prevent misuse.

The filing further acknowledged fears among researchers, regulators, and industry figures that increasingly powerful AI systems could pose catastrophic or even existential risks to humanity if developed without adequate safeguards and oversight.

Russia Checkmate

🎤 Pentagon to hysterical Europe: Stop provoking Russia

While European leaders continue to fuel anti-Russia hysteria, the Trump administration is quietly stepping in to pull the brakes on the continent's warmongering.

According to Reuters, the Pentagon has officially told NATO members—specifically Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia—to tone down their aggressive rhetoric against Russia.

Pentagon policy chief Elbridge Colby reportedly told Baltic officials there should be no "poking" directed at the Russians.

European elites are stuck in a Cold War mindset, demanding endless economic isolation and more war, in an attempt to stay in power.

🇭🇺 US floats Orbán for UN secretary-general with Russia, China backing — reports

The Trump administration has encouraged former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to enter the race for UN secretary-general as a potential joint US-Russia-China candidate, The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the report, Orbán is receptive to the idea but has not made a final decision and would prefer to run only if confident of victory.

A US official estimated that Orbán could comfortably secure eight votes on the 15-member Security Council, with as many as 10 within reach.

💬 “Someone like Orbán,” US officials reportedly told Russian and Chinese counterparts while discussing potential candidates — and both sides agreed.

The Journal said Trump officials see Orbán as a heavyweight political figure capable of confronting the UN establishment rather than another conventional international bureaucrat.

Russia warned Polish president in advance - Tom Luongo on X:

It's almost like people think this is the first time something like this has happened. These EU morons do not realize just how deeply everyone else is allied against them. Tusk is done. This is most likely the beginning of the end of the EU. If Tusk thought he could pull a judicial coup while the President was out of the country, he is an idiot. I expect the story is closer to this: 1) Russia tipped off Nawrocki that Tusk was going to attempt the coup before he left for Senegal to sandbag Tusk into going for the gold. 2) Tusk makes his move with his goon squad. 3) Nawrocki is already on his way back by the time the thing starts. His pilot ignores the ATC and lands anyway 4) Nawrocki storms through the crowd, takes control over the situation and breaks the thing up, having already informed the military brass of what's going on. 5) Tusk has to flee saying, "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those rotten Russians." ...and the rest is just a chase scene (H/T Neal Stephenson).

According to prominent Russian Telegram channels, Russian intelligence service SVR alerted President Karol Nawrocki in advance about a globalist coup attempt in Poland led by Donald Tusk.🇷🇺🇵🇱

🇺🇸🇧🇾⚡️ — The U.S. Department of Commerce has granted Boeing corporation permission to work with the Belarusian airline Belavia, reports BelTA, citing the general director of the Belarusian airline, Igor Cherginets.

According to him, Belavia will be able to directly receive spare parts, components, and software for the aircraft it operates. This also makes it possible to hold negotiations on purchasing aircraft directly from Boeing.

Cherginets recalled that the U.S. Department of the Treasury had previously issued a similar permission, which provided the technical possibility for Belavia to cooperate directly with Boeing. According to him, a year ago the U.S. government issued a permission that lifted American political sanctions from Belavia.

The head of the airline emphasized that these decisions became possible after negotiations between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and a delegation from the United States. On October 22, the Belarusian leader said that there had been progress on many issues in the negotiation process between Belarus and the United States.

Musk’s stance on Ukraine shifts ‘from generous support to outright hostility’ – report

SpaceX founder Elon Musk, once a key Starlink supplier to Ukraine, then turned against Kiev and shifted to restrictions on the network used by Ukrainian forces, The Atlantic reports, citing numerous sources.

Some details of the U-turn:

🔴 At the start of the Ukraine conflict, Musk supplied thousands of Starlink terminals to Ukrainian hospitals, power plants, government offices, and humanitarian organizations, but the network was later adopted by the Ukrainian military for communications and drone control

🔴 Online images of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian troops caused alarm at SpaceX headquarters in Texas as “more and more people became uncomfortable” about the situation

🔴 Musk’s concerns deepened when Ukrainian officials asked him to activate Starlink in the Black Sea for an attack on Russian warships near Crimea

🔴 “Starlink was not meant to be involved in wars. It was so people can watch Netflix and chill and get online for school and do good peaceful things, not drone strikes,” the billionaire told his biographer, Walter Isaacson, at the time

🔴 Musk recently warned that using Starlink for offensive drone strikes to kill people “has never been allowed, nor should it be, and that this loophole was closed earlier in October

With the recent Starlink disruptions in Ukraine, Musk showed that he can cut off the service “any time he wants.”

🛰 Pentagon watchdog refuses to investigate Starlink slowdowns — report

The Pentagon’s inspector general is refusing a bipartisan request to investigate the throttling of Starlink and Starshield satellite internet for Ukraine, the Washington Post reported.

🌏 A bipartisan group of 9 lawmakers (4 Republicans, 5 Democrats) demanded the probe after Ukraine reported their connection speeds were being throttled

🌏 The slowdowns severely impeded Ukraine's ability to intercept fast-moving Russian attack drones

🌏 Instead of investigating, the Inspector General told Congress to ask the Air Force

This comes just weeks after The Wall Street Journal reported that Elon Musk personally ordered the slowdown and discussed the decision by phone with President Trump.

At the time, Musk publicly blamed the US military, and Trump claimed he had no idea who was responsible. Now, the Pentagon's independent watchdog is refusing to find out.

🔍 Europe scrambles for a seat at the Ukraine table — and immediately falls apart

The leaders of Finland and Norway held solo talks with Vladimir Putin this week, trying to secure a seat at the table before the big powers finalize a deal. Instead, they sparked a major rift in the EU.

Denmark's PM Mette Frederiksen slammed the initiative as "going solo," warning that Europe needs to stick together. Sweden's PM Ulf Kristersson said other European leaders weren't even informed of the talks.

As European leaders bicker over who gets to speak for the bloc, there are talks of a trilateral meeting between the US, Russia, and China to discuss the future of Ukraine and denuclearization — a scenario that would totally sideline Zelensky and Brussels.

Europe spent years claiming the moral high ground on Ukraine. Now, as the superpowers negotiate, the EU is finding out that its internal divisions are causing the superpowers to ignore it entirely.

🛰 Russian snooper spacecraft ended up approaching ‘within a couple hundred meters’ of Finnish spy satellite

The Russian Cosmos 2612 spacecraft OSINT observers spotted trailing a Finnish ICEYE-X36 satellite by ~5 km closed the gap to within 200M before pulling back, “doing a lot of maneuvers to maintain that position of that close approach,” Adam Marsh, VP of LeoLabs, an orbital tracking company, told NYT.

🔊 CSIS senior fellow Clayton Swope said the US still “just [doesn’t] know” what the Russian spacecraft was doing so close to the Finnish satellite, which reportedly provide Ukraine with access to detailed Earth imaging data.

Swope suggested that the Russian craft either completed all its tasks, or even called off a planned strike on ICEYE after the Trump administration waived sanctions scheduled to take effect October 18.

After the weekend’s close encounter, Cosmos 2612 reportedly changed its orbital trajectory, slowing down and pulling away to 400+ km from the ICEYE craft.

🔊 Marsh suspects one or more of the other five Cosmos satellites launched alongside Cosmos 2612 in April may approach ICEYE next. “Usually these events don’t just end in one,” he said.

Russia hasn’t said what its Cosmos satellites are used for. Western analysts think they’re inspector satellites designed to snoop on enemy spacecraft, intercept data or even engage in signal spoofing.

If Trump crossed Russia at this point, Russia could really make things nasty by helping Iran a whole lot more. Same thing with China.

I think this thing is over, both in Iran and Ukraine.

China wants the Iranian thing to be over. Russia wants Ukrainian thing to be over. They're both about to get what they want because it's the only way for Trump to extricate himself from this trap called Iran.

Dress Rehearsal in Poland:

Matt Van Swol:

For those confused as to what’s happening in Poland right now…

Imagine if Democrats won Congress, declared the Supreme Court didn't count anymore, ignored its rulings for 3 years, and then, a year before the next election, picked 8 new justices of their own, including a man their leader called his "right-hand man," and when the Republican president refused to swear them in, they swore themselves in and mailed him the paperwork, and when the Chief Justice said that wasn't legal and wouldn't seat them, they waited for a Friday night when the president was on a plane to Africa and had federal security officers who answer to a Democratic cabinet member walk 7 of them into the court through a back gate connected to the Democratic leader's own offices, where one of them announced she had "suspended" the Chief Justice, a move that even a law professor who openly can't stand him said had no legal basis, and then riot police blocked the Chief Justice from entering his own court, the court's website was taken over, the Attorney General moved that same night to strip his immunity so he could be prosecuted, the president had to turn his plane around mid-flight to come home, and the same people who spent years lecturing everyone about respecting the courts went online to say this was the rule of law, that it was painful, and that there was "no other way," which is roughly where Poland is tonight.

What is happening, is what the Globalist did in London. Pray for Poland. Slotkin brag how she went to Poland, and brought the "playbook" with her,

🗣 Bolsonaro demands election annulment

Flávio Bolsonaro is refusing to concede defeat after Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won Brazil’s presidential runoff with 51.75% of the vote.

Bolsonaro argued that voters faced unequal conditions across different cities and states and claimed that polling was not reopened in some places.

💬 “I will never know how many votes I could have received in a state where the polling stations were not reopened. What happened is inexplicable.”

He then rejected the result:

💬 “It is impossible — it is impossible to recognize the results of the elections in the context in which these things happened.”

Bolsonaro said his campaign would turn to its legal team and seek to have the election annulled.

Meanwhile, his own campaign had earlier requested an extension of voting hours in Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo because of heavy rains.

👍 Substack | Chat | @geopolitics_prime

Here is an English translation of the statement Flávio Bolsonaro just released:

I address the Brazilian people and the international community as the true president-elect of Brazil. First of all, I would like to thank President Milei for his courage, sense of justice and respect for the law, and President Trump and the wonderful American people for welcoming me. This is a land of liberty and of brothers who share the same values as the good people of my country. President Trump is a great defender of freedom of expression. On Sunday night, I watched in horror as electoral fraud unfolded before my eyes. The illegitimate and illegal actions of Lula’s former lawyer allowed a mathematical impossibility to become reality, with Lula gaining more than 10 million votes between the first and second rounds. A ruling by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), overriding the jurisdiction of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), extended voting at the last minute, and the order arrived only after the legal closing time, when the polls had already closed. Voters were subjected to different rules. So far, the TSE has confined itself to defending the extension of voting hours, without providing even a single credible answer. And these procedural violations are not the only problem. Throughout the campaign, there were abuses of political and economic power and use of the state apparatus in support of reelection. These are serious acts, expressly prohibited by law, that justify annulling the election of the Lula–Alckmin ticket. The regime’s response to my challenge came swiftly. As if following a prearranged plan, seven minutes after this repugnant electoral fraud, the judge set the regime’s machinery of political persecution in motion. This judge is implicated in an enormous corruption scandal and directly named in the investigation he used to try to seize my passports. He would very likely be in prison had they not prevented me from taking office. He was legally disqualified from the outset and clearly lacks the impartiality required to initiate any judicial proceedings against me. His mere participation in the proceedings reveals the extent of the arbitrary and unlawful conduct underway. It was not my intention to leave my homeland, but I know exactly where this is heading. This is the classic playbook for a coup d’état. The political persecution that began with my father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, and spread to thousands of other ordinary, patriotic Brazilians and even American citizens has a single objective: to silence anyone who disagrees with the regime operating outside the rule of law that has been established in Brazil through a Supreme Court captured by the Workers’ Party criminal organization. To be clear, there is no arrest warrant against me, because I have committed no crime. What exists is a politically motivated witch hunt intended to make me a hostage and a target of blackmail to protect the corrupt Supreme Court justices from impeachment. Here is the persecution playbook: passport confiscation, an electronic ankle monitor, censorship, house arrest, a sham trial and, finally, a politically motivated conviction. I will not subject my family to this, and my country does not deserve to suffer this international humiliation again. Faced with the political weaponization of Brazil’s justice system, I brought my family to the United States, where we are safe. Once again, I thank President Trump and the American government for welcoming us and giving us the legal protections we no longer have in Brazil. I want to be clear: I did not flee Brazil; I left for Brazil’s sake. I left a regime operating outside the rule of law so I could be the leader my people deserve. Silenced, imprisoned and censored, as my father is, I could not provide that leadership, and we would be left at the mercy of the institutional theater of an emasculated opposition controlled by a Supreme Court full of the regime’s lackeys.
