Tehran now assumes a US-Israeli attack is coming and views Washington's diplomatic gestures as "unreliable", a senior Iranian security official told Fars News.

The World Food Programme has cut assistance for 500,000 people in Gaza and 200,000 in the occupied West Bank because of a severe funding shortfall, Press TV reported.
In Gaza, recipients fell from 1.6 million to 1.1 million; in the West Bank, from 400,000 to 200,000. Food rations were halved, while daily hot meals dropped from 250,000 to 150,000. WFP says it urgently needs $450 million to sustain operations for the next six months.
💀 The scale remains staggering: 1.4 million people — 67% of Gaza’s population — face crisis-level food insecurity or worse, while roughly 200,000 need immediate assistance to prevent deaths from hunger. WFP officials described life in Gaza as “absolutely brutal.”
Israel last week temporarily halted commercial goods, including food, from entering Gaza. In the West Bank, settler attacks during just the first two weeks of the olive harvest already surpassed the total for all of last year, according to WFP.
The cuts hit Palestinians already devastated by a campaign that a UN Commission of Inquiry has concluded amounts to genocide in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Trump’s much-publicized “Board of Peace” has little progress to show: key parts of the Gaza plan remain stalled, Israel still controls much of the territory, and reconstruction has barely begun while Palestinians continue to face hunger and deadly strikes.

Cratering favorability for Israel among Americans and growing opposition to Israeli meddling in US politics have prompted the American Israel Political Affairs Committee to formally commit to stop endorsing or making direct campaign contributions to individual candidates.
Citing the contents of a letter delivered to members this week, Jewish Insider reported that the lobbyist is switching tactics to focus spending on its ‘United Democracy Project’ super PAC, and outreach aimed at mobilizing big donors to fund its preferred candidates.
“Endorsements, direct PAC contributions, and earmarking will no longer be part of our approach so we can expand individual giving and utilize new tools to help our friends win,” the letter said.
This, it is hoped, will help put distance between AIPAC and the politicians it backs in the eyes of the public, and reduce opponents’ ability to paint AIPAC-backed candidates as Israel-bought.
Besides the policy change, the letter touted AIPAC’s successes this cycle, highlighting its role in helping to bring 290 pro-Israel candidates to power, and stopping 29 “detractors.”
AIPAC made clear it has no intention of leaving US politics.
“The 2028 cycle will demand an even stronger commitment by our activists to pro-Israel politics,” the letter said.

Heidi Levine, a veteran American photojournalist on assignment for The Washington Post, was beaten by Israeli settlers on Friday while covering the Palestinian olive harvest in Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah.
Around 80 masked settlers stormed the olive groves, setting trees on fire and launching rocks with slings at Palestinian families gathered for the harvest. Levine was wearing clear press markings. She was knocked to the ground and beaten as settlers surrounded her. Video shows her lying bloodied on a dirt path, telling those trying to help her: "I'm going to die."
The settlers stole her camera equipment. According to Italian media, she suffered four fractured vertebrae and a broken rib, and needed surgery on her hand. Witnesses say IDF soldiers on the scene did nothing to stop the attack.

Instead of condemning the attackers, Netanyahu's office said the facts remain "unclear" and that Levine was "allegedly assaulted." The statement ended by warning against using "disputed incidents" to "demonize" settlers in the West Bank.
Levine called the claims "absolutely untrue" and "insulting."

2,000 trucks stranded as Pakistan shuts Iran border trade
Pakistan has temporarily stopped trading with Iran via the Taftan and Gabd-Rimdan crossings in Balochistan, leaving around 2,000 trucks — including tankers carrying liquefied gas — stuck on both sides of the border. The formal reason for the move was a memorandum from Pakistan's Ministry of Commerce that cancelled the earlier permit for trade with Iran.
Islamabad describes the step as a security measure and a way to fight smuggling, while Tehran points to "technical issues." Passenger traffic through Gabd-Rimdan, however, is still running.
The closure stands in contrast to the situation on Pakistan's other borders. Trade with Afghanistan has been effectively stopped since October 2025 due to a dispute over terrorism, with turnover dropping by 74%, while a ceasefire with India is holding, though trade remains very low.
The closure seems especially unexpected given Pakistan's role as a mediator between the US and Iran: in June, a 14-point memorandum was signed with its involvement, and in August and September Pakistani officials visited Tehran. In addition, in spring 2026, Pakistan opened six land routes for the transit of third-country goods to Iran through its ports, getting around the maritime blockade.
