Sexual preference is not genetic after all! It depends on what you are exposed to.
Same-sex sexual behavior has genetic underpinnings but no single gene is associated with it, according to a broad study of more than 470,000 people. An international team of researchers found five genetic markers linked to whether someone has ever engaged in sexual behavior with a person of the same sex, according to the paper published online Thursday in the journal Science.
Participants reported whether they had ever had sex with someone of the same sex, and the researchers analyzed the data to determine if there were any genetic variants associated with the behavior.
Taking into account the entire contribution of genetic markers that may play a role, the researchers estimated that genetic variation could account for up to 8% to 25% of same-sex sexual behavior in the population studied. But when the researchers pooled all of the identified markers to create a score for an individual person, the genetic variation explained less than 1%, making it practically impossible to predict a person’s sexual orientation or behavior based on their genome.
Experts also noted that only two of the five genetic markers were significant in both sexes: Two variants were significant in just males, and one variant in just females. The genetic correlation between the sexes for any given trait is typically much higher, experts say.
The two male-associated markers also are linked to other traits, the researchers noted, including male-pattern baldness and sense of smell. The overall meaning or mechanisms of these linkages, however, are unclear.

Voters were asked to weigh in on the convicted pedophile’s Aug. 10 death at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center — and they were split in even thirds.
Thirty-four percent believe Epstein was murdered, 33 percent believe the city medical examiner’s ruling that he hanged himself and 32 percent are unsure.
Across political affiliations, 46 percent of Republicans believe the financier was murdered versus 26 percent who say it was suicide. Thirty-eight percent of Democrats, meanwhile, say it was suicide, compared to 26 percent who think he was killed.

In a project named Operation DeathEaters, Anonymous says it is is planning on collating evidence against international paedophile rings and their severe abuse of children and find the links between different operations, and to bring them to justice.
Anonymous has issued a video instructing activists on how they can aid in the operation, which has appeared at a time of serious allegations of historic child sexual abuse levied against prominent UK figures, including claims that a VIP Westminster paedophile ring existed in the past.

The protests that have engulfed Hong Kong have morphed into cries for full democracy, something that has to be Beijing's worst nightmare. As Austin Bay, citing the reporting of Michael Yon on the ground in Hong Kong, has noted (hat tip: Instapundit), the protests have moved well into the realm of civil unrest. Anecdotally, the whole world has seen how they have featured American flags, the singing of The Star-Spangled Banner, and signs calling for a Second Amendment. Young Hong Kong leaders have turned up in Taiwan with talks about taking in refugees now. Even leftists in the states have started scolding each other for not taking a more assertive stance on standing up for the Hong Kongers.
The other thing worth noting in this is that Beijing's nightmare is far from over. The protests not only have engulfed Hong Kong, but are actually no longer about Hong Kong. Chinese citizens have been caught sneaking over the border into Hong Kong for no other reason than to join the protests. The impact of the protests has already spread — far into the Chinese interior and into Taiwan.

A largely unknown, massively funded strategy company pushing the interests of wealthy leftist donors has been quietly behind a hydra-like dark money network of pop-up groups designed to look like grassroots activist organizations. These front groups push everything from opposition to President Trump’s proposed border wall to support for Obamacare to gun control to government control of the Internet to pro-abortion activism and other leftwing causes.
The secretive Arabella Advisors may be one of the most impactful and sophisticated leftist funding outfits that you never heard of, a centralized hub that runs nonprofit arms that in turn have spawned a nexus of hundreds of front organizations outwardly designed to appear grassroots but that evidence the common theme of more government control in the lives of Americans.
Arabella’s vast network was unmasked in an extensive exposé by conservative watchdog Capital Research Center, which documents the shadowy system developed by, housed in, and staffed by the for-profit, privately held Arabella Advisors.
The Arabella firm in turn manages four nonprofits: the New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, Windward Fund, and Hopewell Fund. It is these nonprofit entities that play host to hundreds of groups and projects that promote interests and political movements strategically deployed in an ongoing campaign to nudge the country to the left.
Arabella’s nonprofits spent a combined $1.16 billion from 2013-2017 alone with the aim of advancing “the political policies desired by wealthy left-wing interests through hundreds of ‘front’ groups,” according to the report. “And those interests pay well: the network’s revenues grew by an incredible 392 percent over that same period.”
“Together, these groups form an interlocking network of ‘dark money’ pop-up groups and other fiscally sponsored projects, all afloat in a half-billion-dollar ocean of cash,” states the report. “The real puppeteer, though, is Arabella Advisors, which has managed to largely conceal its role in coordinating so much of the professional Left’s infrastructure under a mask of ‘philanthropy.’”
A specialty of the Arabella network seems to be the quick turnover of hundreds of “front” groups, especially websites timed to impact current events and designed to look like “grassroots” Astroturf organizations but that actually function as part of an orchestrated movement to advance the political interests of hidden leftist donors.
“At a glance, these groups — such as Save My Care and Protect Our Care — appeared to be impassioned examples of citizen activists defending ObamaCare,” according to the report. “In reality, neither ‘not-for-profit’ advocacy group appears to have paid staff, held board meetings, or even owned so much as a pen.”
In one case, an organization calling itself Demand Justice, founded by former members of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, quickly thrust itself into the center of opposition to Trump’s Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh.
Even before Trump announced Kavanaugh as his nominee, Demand Justice committed to spending about $5 million to oppose the eventual pick. As soon as Kavanaugh’s name was selected, the organization immediately deployed an anti-Kavanaugh website and helped lead news making national activism during the confirmation hearings.
Yet what the news media missed is that Demand Justice is fiscally sponsored by the Sixteen Thirty Fund, one of Arabella’s nonprofits, as the Capital Research Center report reveals.
Arabella Advisors was founded by Eric Kessler, whose bio on the firm’s website identifieshim as “a serial entrepreneur who has started, led, and advised organizations pursuing social change across the country and around the globe.”
Curiously missing from his official bio, but documented in the Capital Research Center report, is the detail that Kessler served as a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, an arm of the controversial Clinton Foundation.

Her suspected killer, 24-year-old D.C. resident Eliyas Aregahegne, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder while armed.
"A motive is not entirely clear," D.C. police Chief Peter Newsham said at a news conference on Wednesday. "We do not have any information to suggest that it was a robbery or that it was an attempted sexual assault."
"We believe that there was only one person involved in this stabbing and we have not recovered any information to suggest that Margery knew or had any association with that suspect," Newsham added.
