27 March 2020 - A Lot of Lunch News

The intelligent strategy now being set up is to have good intel on the cases throughout the US and then have social distancing modified to match the appropriate actions on a County by County basis.  Very sensible:

President Donald Trump outlined a plan to the nation’s governors in a letter on Thursday calling for a relaxing of the administration’s social-distancing guidelines in counties that are at a low risk of being affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Trump’s plan calls for expanded coronavirus testing throughout the United States so that counties can categorized as high, medium or low risk.

We have to put the country to work,” he said from the White House Rose Garden on Tuesday. “You are going to lose a number of people to the flu, but you are going to lose more people by putting the country in a massive recession or depression.

“You are going to lose people. You are going to have suicides by the thousands,” he continued. “You can’t just come in and say, ‘Let’s close up the United States of America.'”

“We can do much of what we’re doing and we can do it from a work environment instead of an environment where everybody’s locked up and everybody is saying, ‘Oh, the business is gone, the business is gone,’ and everybody’s suffering depression,” Trump said. Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong!

Americans are good folks who are doing the social distancing for their communities and for themselves and their loved ones!

People appear to be doing their part to fight the spread of the coronavirus by practicing some social distancing, and 8 in 10 are ready to do even more by sheltering in place. “Americans,” said the latest Gallup survey, have “stepped up their already considerable efforts to engage in social distancing in response to the novel coronavirus.” Gallup gauged social distancing in the United States and found that 96% are practicing some form of it. Some 64% are completely or mostly isolated, and only 4% said that they “did not make any attempt to isolate yourself from people outside your household.” The Gallup team also asked about the likelihood of staying home for a month if public health officials recommended it to slow the virus outbreak. Some 82% said they were likely to follow the recommendation, with 58% “very likely.”

Barr threatens to go after hoarders with warehouses and then like magic a big union in California coughs up 39 million!! N95 masks. 39 Million!

“We have started to see some evidence of potential hoarding and price gouging,” said Barr. “So, earlier today the president signed a second executive order providing the authority to address…hoarding that threatens the supply of those necessary health and medical resources.”

“If you have a big supply of toilet paper in your house, this is not something you have to worry about. But if you are sitting on a warehouse with masks, surgical masks, you will be hearing a knock on your door,” Barr said.

Then today this happened…

Then on Thursday the SEIU Healthcare Workers West announced they had located a mysterious stash of 39 million N95 face masks. Service Employees International Union United Healthcare Workers West announced Thursday that it located 39 million N95 masks and will make them available to state and local governments and health care systems that are fighting the novel coronavirus outbreak. The union found a distributor with the masks, which are cleared for surgical use, after pleas from health care workers as new coronavirus cases surge across the state and the country as a whole.

Union officials said they also found a supplier that can produce some 20 million protective masks per week and another that can supply millions of protective face shields. Here's more detail from the SEIU announcement for those who are asking about it.

Similarly NY has a thousand or more ventilators just sitting in a warehouse while the Democrat leadership cries for ventilators.

"Thousand of Federal Government (delivered) Ventilators found in New York storage. N.Y. must distribute NOW!"

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo acknowledged Friday the state did have a stockpile of unused ventilators, despite his complaints the federal government was not sending enough.

Cuomo responded to a comment from President Donald Trump on Twitter that there were thousands of ventilators in New York not being used.

“Yes, they’re in a stockpile because that’s where they are supposed to be, because we don’t need them yet,” Cuomo said. “We need them for the apex, the apex isn’t here, so we’re gathering them in a stockpile.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said early this week that anyone from New York or New Jersey flying into Florida would have to undergo a 14-day quarantine. Thousands of people from the area flew to Florida after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a stay-at-home order earlier this month, according to DeSantis. Florida is threatening up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine for anyone who violates the mandatory quarantine.

Now other states are following suit, including Texas, Arkansas, and Rhode Island.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive ordermandates a two-week quarantine for nyone flying into his state from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or New Orleans.

“Each person covered under this order to self-quarantine shall be responsible for all associated costs, including transportation, lodging, food, and medical care,” the order states.

Abbott cited public health experts on the White House coronavirus task force, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has called for quarantines of travelers from New York so the state does not act as a “seeding point to the rest of the country.”

White House officials repeatedly said this week that anyone from New York City or surrounding areas who has already traveled outside the region should self-isolate until two weeks have elapsed since they left.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said that anyone traveling from the New York City region must isolate for two weeks after arriving in the state while South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster asked any visitor who plans to stay in the state for at least two nights to quarantine for two weeks.

“Any Marylander, or anyone visiting Maryland who has recently spent time in New York or visited the tri-state area must quarantine in place and limit contact with others for at least 14 days,” Hogan said at a press conference on Monday.

Hawaii and Alaska have both implemented quarantines for travelers from anywhere in attempts to prevent the spread of the virus in the states. Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced the measures even for Alaska residents returning from other locales.

Anyone who breaks the quarantine in Hawaii will face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $5,000, officials said.

State police in Rhode Island will enforce an executive order signed by Gov. Gina Raimondo mandating anyone entering the state from New York enter quarantine for two weeks. The order includes people arriving in cars, buses, or trains, unlike most other orders from states further away.

Package lickers are officially terrorists:

People who intentionally spread the coronavirus could face criminal charges under federal terrorism laws, the Justice Department’s No. 2 official said Tuesday.  “Because Coronavirus appears to meet the statutory definition of a ‘biological agent’… such acts potentially could implicate the Nation’s terrorism-related statutes,” Rosen wrote. “Threats or attempts to use COVID-19 as a weapon against Americans will not be tolerated.”

President Donald Trump said Thursday his administration will make the malaria drug chloroquine available “almost immediately” to treat the COVID-19 infection, but it will only be available under the “compassionate use” program until the drug undergoes a clinical trial under the FDA’s directive.

Studies are showing chloroquine can both “prevent and treat coronavirus” in the cells of primates, but it is not FDA-approved for COVID-19.

Sometimes called “compassionate use”, expanded access is a potential pathway for a patient with an immediately life-threatening condition or serious disease or condition to gain access to an investigational medical product (drug, biologic, or medical device) for treatment outside of clinical trials when no comparable or satisfactory alternative therapy options are available.  Expanded access may be appropriate when all the following apply:

  • Patient has a serious disease or condition, or whose life is immediately threatened by their disease or condition.

  • There is no comparable or satisfactory alternative therapy to diagnose, monitor, or treat the disease or condition.

  • Patient enrollment in a clinical trial is not possible.

  • Potential patient benefit justifies the potential risks of treatment.

  • Providing the investigational medical product will not interfere with investigational trials that could support a medical product’s development or marketing approval for the treatment indication.

A huge IBM supercomputer known as 'Summit' was tasked by Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers with finding a potential cure to COVID-19 Researchers in the United States say they now have a list of drugs that could work to bind to the virus and prevent it from injecting cells.

The study concluded: 'We hypothesize the identified small-molecules may be repurposed to limit viral recognition of host cells and/or disrupt host-virus interactions.'

Further experimental testing on the identified list of compounds is now required to determine whether any of them can be used to create a treatment for the virus.

Co-author of the research Jeremy Smith said the supercomputer allowed the team to sift through a huge collection of data in a short period of time.

'Summit was needed to rapidly get the simulation results we needed. It took us a day or two whereas it would have taken months on a normal computer,' Smith said.

A group of pharma companies and researchers came together and systemically and analytically found 69 potential drugs that they have good reason to believe would be effective against the virus.  Among the drugs found the chloroquine is included:

How revealing!:

Some Democrat Governors want to control and limit the use of Chloroquine!! No use without finishing the clinical trials first, which may take a long time! This is for a drug that has been used for decades, and was even over the counter in France.

NY Governor is restricting the use of chloroquine by limiting it to clinical studies:

Cuomo’s NY EO, 202.10 It’s listed as such:

"No pharmacist shall dispense hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine except when written as prescribed for an FDA-approved indication; or as part of a state approved clinical trial related to COVID-19 for a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, with such test result documented as part of the prescription. No other experimental or prophylactic use shall be permitted, and any permitted prescription is limited to one fourteen day prescription with no refills. "

Nevada governor bans malaria drugs for coronavirus patients!

Meanwhile the Hasidic MD in NY now has cured 500 people with it.  100% cure rate with no fatalities.

On Tuesday morning, the controversial and experimental coronavirus treatment program being run by a Hasidic doctor who claimed he had kept more than 500 symptomatic patients out of the hospital was shut down. By afternoon, after intervention from the White House, it was up and running again.

The doctor, Vladimir Zelenko, has been in isolation because he is immunocompromised. But he is directing perhaps the world’s most extensive, unsanctioned medical experiment related to coronavirus — the use of the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid-19, a something President Donald Trump has been touting for days as a “game changer” in the fight against the virus.

Hillary poo poos the chloroquine saying in a tweet:

Please do not take medical advice from a man who looked directly at a solar eclipse.HillaryClinton

Keeping people from helpful medical interventions that Trump is talking about and out of work seems to be the Democrat Strategy!  It is obviously a lethal strategy for many Americans!

Also being done:

Seriously sick coronavirus patients in New York state’s largest hospital system are being given massive doses of vitamin C — based on promising reports that it’s helped people in hard-hit China, The Post has learned.

Dr. Andrew G. Weber, a pulmonologist and critical-care specialist affiliated with two Northwell Health facilities on Long Island, said his intensive-care patients with the coronavirus immediately receive 1,500 milligrams of intravenous vitamin C.

The regimen is based on experimental treatments administered to people with the coronavirus in Shanghai, China, Weber said.

“The patients who received vitamin C did significantly better than those who did not get vitamin C,” he said.

“It helps a tremendous amount, but it is not highlighted because it’s not a sexy drug.” A spokesman for Northwell — which operates 23 hospitals, including Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan’s Upper East Side — said vitamin C was being “widely used” as a coronavirus treatment throughout the system, but noted that medication protocols varied from patient to patient.

As of Tuesday, New York hospitals have federal permission to give a cocktail of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to desperately ill patients on a “compassionate care” basis.

President Trump has tweeted that the combination therapy has “a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine.”

This is a worthy video, only 4 and a third minutes long, but it is inspiring:

Good medicine for the soul. In contrast:

Soros’s organization actually is pushing this.

Here’s the article links:

The Democratic Party's leading super PAC will begin hitting President Donald Trump over coronavirus in four battleground states, using millions from liberal billionaire George Soros. Priorities USA Action—the Democratic Party's largest super PAC—will spend $6 million this week on advertisements criticizing Trump for his response to the coronavirus pandemic. The ads will run in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The PAC received $3 million in contributions from Soros's Democracy PAC on Feb. 21, new filings show. Soros's seven-figure donation accounts for 77 percent of the $3.9 million the PAC reported hauling in last month.

Iranian regime officials stole more than $1 billion in humanitarian funds meant to be used to help the country’s people fight the spread of coronavirus, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

European countries intended for more than $1 billion cash for medical supplies to go to the Iranian people, who have been ravaged by the virus. But American officials say regime leaders instead pocketed the money and are now using it to protect themselves from the virus as it spreads throughout the population. This includes hoarding medical supplies that were meant to aid Iranian citizens. Multiple regional reports have showed that before and since the virus began spreading, Iranian leaders stole funds purposed directly to support the ailing Iranian people. Closing inspiration from Voat commenters: ...”Reports are that the truckers are getting supplies to the stores. People are stocking the shelves all night and letting the elderly shop first. Carnival Cruise line told Trump “We can match those big Navy Hospital ships with some fully staffed cruise ships” GM said hold our cars and watch this; we can make those ventilators where we were making cars starting next week. Women and children are making homemade masks and handing out snacks to truckers. Restaurants and schools said, We’ve got kitchens and staff; we can feed kids.” Churches are holding on-line services and taking care of their members and communities. NBA basketball players said, “Hold our basketballs while we write checks to pay the arena staff.” Construction companies and tattoo shops said, “Here are some masks for the medical staff and doctors”. Breweries are making sanitizer out of the left-over ingredients. We thought we couldn’t live without Baseball, NASCAR, NBA or going to the beach, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Instead, we’re trying to keep those businesses open by ordering online and placing take-out orders.

What the world didn't count on was America saying "Hey, hold on and watch this."

This is when America shines...when faced with adversity. Our ingenuity is unparalleled when put to the test. This is America at its finest - taking care of each other and pulling together when things seem their worst! God bless! WWG1WGA!

I'm Canadian, it's happening here too. I will say you Americans are so used to natural disasters and wars, adversity is in your blood. It has never stopped amazing me how quick you attack a disaster and get to work. Imagine what would happen if the criminal elements are scraped up and sent to a waste disposal? I remain hopeful because of people like you.

As one crazy ex president said, 'They have misunderestimated us!"

I agree. A Canadian and a frenchman were at a conference I attended about 20 years ago. I asked if it were true that the world hates Americans. They said almost simultaneously, 'No. We just don't understand your unbelievable optimism. I think the world is just jealous of that." I thought about that a lot. I think there's some truth to it. We're the energizer bunny and we found a President to match that underlying American Spirit of Hopefulness, Can-Do, and Resilience. God Bless the U.S.A! I was blessed to watch Lee Greenwood in person. But maybe today we need a little of his singing - STAND UP AND SING ALONG ANONS! THIS IS US! (even Canadian Anons, you're our little brother. You can sing along, too. As soon as we get this fixed, we'll be checking in with you.)

As my dad is fond of saying to the Lefties: "If America is so bad, why are people killing themselves by walking across hot deserts and stowing away in ships just to get here? Why don't they try and sneak into Venezuela?"
