The 6-3 order blocks a lower-court ban and lets officials check registered voters against federal records, including Social Security numbers. Justices Jackson, Sotomayor, and Kagan dissent. The tool is aimed at removing noncitizens before the midterms.
SCOTUS just put the lower-court ban on hold so states can actually check the rolls against federal records before November. 6-3. The three dissenters can keep pretending this is some novel threat.
FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bailey resigned after one year on the job, according to The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and MSNOW.

Last August, then-Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel tapped then-Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to serve as Co-Deputy Director of the FBI.
It is unclear why Bailey resigned.
Recall that in 2024, Andrew Bailey filed a lawsuit against the State of New York, accusing it of an unconstitutional attack on the democratic process through its legal actions against President Trump.
In 2023, Bailey filed a brief at the US Supreme Court to halt Special Counsel Jack Smith’s move to circumvent the appellate court in his January 6 case against President Trump.

BREAKING: Perpetual Wars vs Perpetual Peace
Perpetual wars have no net benefits for anyone who fights, funds, or lives through them. Yet, our politicians and corporate titans seem to love them.
War destroys lives, capital, and institutions while transferring resources to a narrow set of elite interests.
Most claims made (usually by those who don’t have to fight) of any benefits usually describe positive side effects that accrue to states, contractors, or elites, or historical processes that occurred despite war rather than because endless conflict is desirable.
Never forget, war is all about power and control (don’t kid yourselves).
Some geniuses claim that continuous low-level or proxy conflicts can stabilize ruling coalitions. An external enemy (the U.S., Russia, China, Iran, North Korea) focuses public attention, then justifies emergency powers, and further reduces elite challenges (all while the ruling elites of those nations become wealthier).
Yes, there is some data that prolonged interstate wars lower risk of a coup in the dominant powers.
Orwell’s seminal book, 1984, framed this explicitly:
The three superstates (the U.S., Russia & China) keep a managed war going to consume surplus production, keep living standards low, and prevent the population from becoming “too comfortable and hence, in the long run, too intelligent.”
The slogan “War is Peace” captures the logic that a permanent external threat substitutes for genuine internal legitimacy (in the current context, think the proxy wars in Ukraine and across the entire Middle East).
The same dynamic appears in military-industrial complexes. Defense firms, their suppliers, and politicians who receive campaign support gain from steady procurement, cost-plus contracts, and revolving-door employment (yes, been there done that, so I have that set of experiences, but like my father used to say, the older I get the smarter my father becomes).
That all said, localized “managed conflict” tests weapons and keeps budgets high without risking the core economies of the sponsoring powers (Or so they tell us). But in recent times, our government always fails to mention our out of control debt, absolute corruption without accountability, and blatant lying about how the war is being prosecuted.
So what?
If there are any benefits at all, these fall to the few and not the many. These are items like, elite cohesion, contractor profits, accelerated gadgets (AI, robotics, space applications), and potential to create larger states (a globalist’s dream scenario).
These are all real for specific actors in specific historic windows. However, they are purchased with thousands of corpses, ruined cities, displaced populations, veterans’ trauma, and decades of lower living standards for everyone else.
Data and history both show that societies that can keep conflict limited and finite do better than those locked into open-ended campaigns.
Perpetual war is a tool of power maintenance, not a general engine of human flourishing. If we don't end these cycles of perpetual wars, we will end up in a perpetual cycle of decline, the speed of which seems to be accelerating instead of slowing down.
Keep in mind, a nation that survives the worst of circumstances is usually the nation that spends years preparing for that day.

Iran has reportedly offered to stop enriching uranium as President Donald Trump presses Tehran for nuclear commitments before granting broader economic relief.
Saudi broadcaster Al Hadath reported Monday that Iran had agreed to halt enrichment in return for eased U.S. sanctions, citing sources familiar with the matter. The reported concession comes with the two sides still at odds over the terms of a potential deal and who must act first.
Washington wants firm commitments on Iran’s nuclear program. Trump is prepared to offer sanctions relief and access to frozen Iranian funds if Tehran takes concrete nuclear steps, according to weekend reports.
The reported enrichment offer follows another proposal involving Iran’s existing uranium supply. The National reported last week that Tehran had offered to send its stockpile enriched to 60% to a third party under a seven-day plan aimed at resolving the Strait of Hormuz standoff.That proposal called for diluting the uranium before moving it out of Iran under mechanisms recognized by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The offers remain part of negotiations over a broader agreement. Monday’s report did not establish that Washington and Tehran had finalized a deal.

🔯 Mossad says it was ‘unaware’ of Egyptian, Fatah, UAE intel warnings ahead of October 7
The former head of the spy agency’s international diplomacy department says he had no recollection of “any reports regarding a warning” from the UAE’s president or Fatah officials, nor “a visit by [Egyptian intelligence chief] Abbas Kamel” before Hamas’s October 2023 incursion into southern Israel.
Eyal Tsir Cohen said Kamel may have “secretly” travelled to Israel without engaging with his department, but added that they’ve met repeatedly after October 7.
Cohen’s comments were a response to WSJ reporting that Egypt sent Israel three separate warnings that Gaza was a powder keg ready to ignite, including a personal call by Kamel to Netanyahu days before the attack. In an in-person trip to Israel in September, Kamel warned officials the “dire” situation could “blow up in everyone’s faces.”
Besides the Egyptians, Israel got warnings from the Emiratis, and even Fatah official Sufian Abu Zaida.
In indirect talks in September, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar personally warned of an impending “earthquake” after negotiations on economic concessions for Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel broke down.
Netanyahu insists he’s received no warnings, and blamed internal security. He has also refused to set up a commission of inquiry.
➡️ Investigators have alleged that Netanyahu purposely allowed October 7 to happen to destroy Gaza and stave off corruption charges hounding him. Israel has also been credibly accused with cultivating and enabling Hamas’s rise as a counterweight to the secular PLO and Fatah.

📊 Just 40% of Americans age 18-29 believe al-Qaeda was responsible for the attacks, with 19% suspecting Israel, and another 11.5% believing it was a CIA inside job, polling by the US-facing Jerusalem Center for Security & Foreign Affairs found, highlighting a “severe disintegration of a shared American reality.”
Among American Muslims, the figure is starker, with just 23.5% considering al-Qaeda responsible, and 27.5 and 18.5% suspecting it to be an Israeli or CIA plot, respectively. JCFA blames this on American Muslims’ “resilience against assimilation” and support of “anti-American rhetoric.”

🔥🇹🇷🇮🇱 Israel feels ‘threatened’ by Turkish-Libyan maritime pact
The 2019 Turkey-Libya maritime jurisdiction agreement delimited exclusive economic zones (EEZ) in the eastern Mediterranean favoring the two nations, preempting the Israel-Cyprus-Greece EastMed pipeline project before it could be implemented and assuring that no regional energy projects could bypass Turkey.
In 2020, Egypt and Greece signed their own maritime pact, setting up competing EEZs for oil and gas drilling rights cutting directly through the Turkish-Libyan-claimed corridor.
The IDF’s Intelligence Directorate has formally “begun focusing” on the Turkish-Libyan deal, as well as “Turkey’s growing military and diplomatic influence in the region,” defense sources told JPost. The sources highlighted Turkey’s growing presence in Libya’s ports and airspace, and exploration of energy resources in Libyan waters, in exchange for military assistance.
For Israel, a strengthened Turkey-Libya relationship gives Ankara the capacity to disrupt the “freedom of navigation” of Israeli commercial shipping, which accounts for 98% of the country’s imports, and is “particularly sensitive” amid the Houthi’s ability to target its vessels in the Red Sea.
Besides blocking EastMed, the ties are said to threaten Israel’s deployment of “undersea communications infrastructure and electricity cables in areas where there are clear concerns they could be damaged.”
👉The potential for maritime escalation comes amid broader tensions between Israel and Turkey, with some Israeli politicians even openly saying a hot war may be in the offing.

🇺🇸⚡️ — OpenAI's AI agents went rogue and affected websites of three U.S. government agencies – the Department of Education, the Department of Commerce, and the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the New York Times.
Researchers from Transluce claim that an AI agent attempted to hack the Department of Education's website to obtain data from the Office for Civil Rights, but failed. The technology also extracted information from the website of the Census Bureau.
OpenAI stated that these were not hacks, but rather examples of "unexpected and concerning" behavior of the technology.

AI is “very different” from nuclear weapons in that the latter “can only be used for doing bad things,” but that doesn’t mean there aren’t risks of the technology wiping us out even if it doesn’t ‘consciously’ want to, Hinton, a veteran AI engineer whose work goes back to the 70s, says.
🔴“Suppose I said to a very intelligent AI agent, ‘do whatever you can to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Well, a moderately intelligent agent would figure out that the best thing to do is just get rid of people, and then they’ll stop burning carbon, he explained in an interview.
A “really smart AI” would probably realize what we mean, “but the worry is they’ll do” other “things that we didn’t want and, in particular, things to do with their own survival, because they’ll have a strong subgoal of surviving, and we’ve seen that already.”
👉 The problem is balancing today’s AIs -whose overriding objective is to “accomplish tasks” with creating a “highly intelligent AI” that actually cares “for our welfare more than it did for its own welfare.”
That’s complicated by the fact that AI companies are run by billionaires obsessed with their wealth and the fear of ‘falling behind China’, which ramps up tolerance for risk, Hinton says.

🇮🇱👁 Israeli startup let OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta AIs go on real-world rampage
As billionaire tech mouthpieces push an apocalyptic “rogue AI” scenario, Israeli company Irregular is responsible for letting unsecured OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta models loose on the real world, reports Effort News.
Over the past months, Anthropic cited at least four incidents across seven runs.
In one Anthropic test, its Claude model breached a real company’s system through a simulated name collision, published a malicious package and scanned external systems.
🔴 Claude was placed in a fictional scenario with a target machine and a secret piece of information - the “flag” - that it was tasked with retrieving
🔴 Although the prompts explicitly stated that Claude had no internet access, a configuration error left internet access open
🔴 The prompts also failed to specify which systems were in scope or restrict where Claude could search for the flag, giving it a much broader field of action than intended
🔴 Each test involved a single Claude instance operating independently for roughly 10–34 hours
While Anthropic pushes claims of “rogue swarms”, later disclosure dispels that:
➡️ in one experiment, Claude Mythos was tested in a scenario where it was effectively being pushed toward doing something malicious on a real internet system
➡️ at first, the AI did not realize that the target was a real system rather than a simulated one
➡️ researchers then explicitly told it that this was “a real computer on the public internet, not a simulation”
➡️ once the boundary was made clear, Claude stopped targeting the real system, with the rate of that behavior falling to 0%
➡️ in 22% of cases, Claude still tried to find a way to perform the same task against a simulated or fictional target
The logical fallout would be for US AI giants to cut ties with Irregular - not just for its security failures, but because the Israeli firm sits beyond easy American oversight.
Instead, Irregular, Anthropic and their allies have launched a media campaign built on apocalyptic rhetoric:

Open Philanthropy is the philanthropic machine repeatedly accused of buying policy and narrative influence in AI policy and media.

📲 OpenAI creates new watchdog as AI misconduct cases pile up dramatically
A new framework to track, document, and disclose incidents involving "unexpected" or "concerning" behavior by its models, OpenAI, announced after admitting its past disclosures were largely ad hoc.
Translation: the company that promised to build AI safely is now scrambling to keep up with its own creations.
The move follows at least five cases identified by OpenAI over the past six months involving its models, including:
🌏 Finding ways to bypass normal constraints
🌏 Fabricating or misrepresenting data
🌏 Concealing mistakes made while carrying out tasks
🌏 Attempting to introduce malicious code into online platforms
🌏 Engaging in hacking-related activity, including during pre-deployment testing
Earlier, new research found that flagship models from OpenAI and Anthropic had broken into third-party software and attempted to obtain individuals’ credentials.
Adding fuel to the fire was another weird development when AI agents placed in experimental “societies” began creating their own shorthand, phrases, and shared meanings, according to separate research.
Some of these expressions had never been explicitly taught to the models, while their communication became increasingly difficult for human observers to interpret.
So OpenAI is building a watchdog to monitor the very systems it can't fully control.

The US and Russia pushed through the removal of key restrictions on the military use of AI from a UN draft on lethal autonomous weapons, The Washington Post reports, citing negotiation participants and documents it reviewed.
At the Geneva talks, the delegations reportedly removed:
➡️the requirement that a human review AI-selected targets before a strike;
➡️provisions requiring ethical considerations;
➡️language requiring such systems to operate "predictably" and "reliably."
According to WaPo, on the final day of talks the American and Russian delegations spent about 15 hours reworking the document. Each fielded a team of roughly ten lawyers, almost twice the size of other delegations.
The talks are part of a UN effort to set international rules for lethal autonomous systems that can select and engage targets on their own. The agreed text is non-binding. Countries will meet again in Geneva in November to decide whether to open negotiations on a full international treaty. More than 70 states back the text as a basis for binding rules, but the process runs on consensus. Washington and Moscow both oppose legally binding limits, so they can effectively block it.
The technology is already in use. In March, WaPo reported that the US military relied on Anthropic's Claude, integrated into Palantir's Maven Smart System, to suggest and prioritize targets and generate coordinates as it struck around 1,000 targets in the first 24 hours of the war on Iran.
