By the end of 2026, the UK will finance the production of 150,000 Ukrainian drones and supply Ukraine with 350 light anti-aircraft missiles LMM Martlet, along with ground-based radars, worth 752 million pounds sterling (about $1 billion).

The military aid will be funded from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.


Reality check: Ukraine fired 1,000+ drones at Russia; only a fraction slipped through​

On the night of June 18, Zelensky launched an unprecedented attack on Moscow and several surrounding regions. The timing was telling: it came right after his G7 appearance, where he had briefed NATO on Russia's supposed "defeat." The goal was clear—cement the PR win with visuals of strikes on Moscow. And the West was eager to play along.

📹Videos of a fire at a Moscow oil refinery are dominating social media, but this offers at best an incomplete snapshot. The real story is that Russian air defenses just weathered an unprecdented attack, and clearly outperformed their American and Israeli counterparts. 

Official figures show Russian air defenses intercepted 992 Ukrainian drones, 4 long-range cruise missiles, and 10 aerial bombs. The number of UAVs that actually hit their targets is currently unknown, but the highest end estimates put the number around 180. Good chance this is an overstatement, but for the sake of argument, let's assume that it has some connection to reality. Either way, no air defense force has ever faced an aerial assault of this scale—the drone count alone exceeded 1,000.

👉 For perspective, the largest US strike on Iranian territory during its joint operation with Israel involved just 49 Tomahawk missiles in a single night.

Now do the math: with at least 992 drones intercepted and AT MOST 180 slipping through, Russia's interception rate stands at a minimum of 85%—under real combat conditions.

🚀 By contrast, NATO assessments put the average success rate of systems like Patriot and THAAD during Iran's barrages against US targets in the Middle East at no higher than 70%. And that figure may be generous—by the second day of that conflict, Iranian drones had nearly paralyzed US air defenses at bases in the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain. The exact numbers were never disclosed.

As for Israel's Iron Dome, its peak interception rate against Iranian drones and ballistic missiles was just 66%—and that was against roughly 300 UAVs per night.

🎤 So when Western media paint Russian air defense as a paper tiger, they're sorely mistaken. Consider this: Russia is the world's largest country by territory, with restless European borders—including the front line—stretching over 6,700 kilometers. Maintaining an impenetrable shield across that expanse is an enormously difficult task.

Why Britain's social media ban for kids is another brick in digital prison wall

The planned British under-16 social media ban is being framed as protecting minors — but the details tell a far more complicated story.

🔶 Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Facebook, and X could be included in the UK government's plan to prevent children from accessing social media platforms. YouTube Kids, Google Classroom, WhatsApp, and Signal would be exempt. The ban is expected to take effect in spring 2027

🔶 To enforce the ban, the government plans to require age-verification checks before any user can access affected platforms:

❤️ Adults will be exempt if they have an account created 16+ years ago, a linked credit card, or another form of age verification

❤️ Those who have already undergone verification under the UK's Online Safety Act — via facial age estimation, online banking, photo ID matching, email-based age estimation, and similar methods — will not be required to do so again

❤️ For others, "it could be as simple as a facial recognition check for over-18s," the government claims

❤️ Facial recognition involves uploading a photo or video of your face, which technology then analyses to estimate your age

🔴 "The result would be that millions of British adults would have to surrender passports, biometric facial scans, or financial records to technology companies simply to access online services," wrote Dr Hisham Al-Assam, associate professor of computing at the University of Buckingham

🔴 The ban would merely make young people "less visible," as they would turn to VPNs, deepfake photos, and other workarounds, argues Dr Liam Berriman, associate professor in childhood and youth studies at the University of Sussex, who participated in the government's consultation process. To close those loopholes, the government may eventually push for digital IDs, although "it seems unlikely voters would be happy about this," he warns

🔴 Berriman's concerns are not unfounded. On September 26, 2025, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced plans to introduce a national digital ID system by the end of the current Parliament (around 2029), making it mandatory for right-to-work checks

Australia’s experience offers little optimism

Australia has introduced a similar measure, with limited evidence of success:

Whiskerford is not impressed.

4chan’s lawyer says the UK government “doesn’t understand the internet” and has given Ofcom an “impossible task” by trying to enforce British online safety rules on US-based platforms. Preston Byrne, who represents 4chan, argued that the site is protected by the First Amendment and doesn’t have to comply with UK demands. “The UK just isn’t getting the memo that the United States has a different system and we do things in a different way.” He also claimed Parliament misunderstood how the internet works and set Ofcom up with a mission it can’t realistically enforce. Ofcom fined 4chan £520,000 under the Online Safety Act for failing to implement age checks and other safety measures. 4chan has refused to pay.
