Russia Mass Production Of Starlink-Killer Electronic Warfare System
Russia has begun serial production of its latest electronic warfare system, the Volna Kupol Garant, which is capable of effectively countering the Starlink satellite network, the TASS news agency reported on August 28, citing a Russian defense industry source.
“The Volna Kupol Garant system has proven effective, and we have begun to produce and deploy it on a larger scale. Now quantity has transformed into quality, and we have essentially blocked the skies from Starlink wherever we need to. The enemy has been dealt a crushing blow,” the source said.
According to the source, the system does not interfere with ground terminals, but rather disrupts the operations of the satellites themselves.

📑 US plans to abandon Iraqi Kurds for good — report
The Pentagon is planning not to renew the security assistance agreement with Iraq's Kurdish Peshmerga forces, BBC reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The agreement expires September 30 — the same day the last US troops withdraw from Iraq.
The Peshmerga received $61 million this year through the Pentagon's counter-IS program for weapons, training, and stipends. However, the US and Israel planned to use the Peshmerga to overthrow the Iranian government by inciting "an internal ground thrust."
Iran has targeted Kurdish forces in northern Iraq extensively since February. Iran and its allies have launched more than 150 missile and drone attacks inside Iraqi Kurdistan this year.

Why the Argentina-UK territorial dispute plays into Trump’s hands
Argentine President Javier Milei is Trump’s protégé. The US has provided Argentina with unprecedented financial support to help secure his re-election and keep him in power, leaving Milei deeply indebted to Washington.
👉 Argentina argues it inherited the Malvinas (the Spanish name for the Falklands) from Spain after independence, viewing Britain’s presence since 1833 as colonial usurpation. The UK insists it has exercised continuous administration for 500 years and refers to the 2013 public referendum backing continued UK administration – which Argentina rejects.
In late December 2025, Milei told The Telegraph that Argentina’s claim over the Islas Malvinas is "non-negotiable." Argentina’s claim was not new, but a leaked Pentagon memo in April this year signaled the possibility of reassessment of Britain’s claim to the islands – apparently as punishment for the UK’s "lukewarm stance" toward the US-Israeli war on Iran, as British think tank Chatham House suggested at the time.
➡️ The issue resurfaced in August, this time with senior Pentagon officials threatening to reassess the Falklands’ status over the UK’s reluctance to commit 3% of its budget to defense by 2030. The US is well aware that the British economy is faltering and that the UK is unlikely to spend 3% on defense in the foreseeable future. That makes the US threat look more like a pretext to give Argentina a green light to reassert its claim.
The US has no legal right to seize the islands it needs to dominate the Western Hemisphere, but it could pressure Milei into granting the Pentagon a multi-decade lease or expanded military access.
Time will tell, but let’s be honest: Britain, a fading maritime power, no longer has the strength to hold on to its distant territories.

Prior to that, he published a 6,000-word essay titled "The turbulent AI era is here. The choices we make are critical," in which he warned that AI tools in the wrong hands could bring a lot of harm. "Although AI will lead to lifesaving advances in drugs and vaccines, it will also make it easier to design a deadly new disease," he wrote.
While AI could be misused by state and non-state actors, at some point it could turn its capabilities against humanity, argues Gates: "AI systems themselves already occasionally act in ways their designers didn’t intend."
Having sounded the alarm, Gates called for a global body to oversee AI, arguing that tech companies lack the expertise and legitimacy to lead such efforts. He said solutions should instead emerge through a democratic process involving elected officials, policymakers, educators, health workers, local authorities, and community leaders.
