Humorous brief retweeted by Trump as Madcow is massively proven wrong about the the ships Comfort and Mercy :

I wonder why she is even able to say such nonsense with a straight face - knowing she will be caught quickly.

President Trump: “We're going to go through a very rough 2 weeks." "As a nation, we face a difficult two weeks as we approach that really important day when we're going to see things get better, all of a sudden," he said. "And it is going to be like a burst of light, I think, or I hope." Highly recommended: This link is to a marvelous graphic showing the cases over time as compared to different countries: Since we are about 11 days behind Italy, it looks like the next two seeks will indeed be rough.

The White House on Sunday extended its guidelines for stopping the spread of the CCP virus to

President Donald Trump announced the extension during a briefing in the Rose Garden. The president cited a modeling estimate that suggests the peak in the death rate for COVID-19 will occur in two weeks.

On March 16, the White House issued a set of social distancing and sanitary guidelines for Americans to follow for 15 days. At the time, the hope was that two weeks would be sufficient to slow the spread of the virus. Nothing would be worst than declaring victory before the victory is won. That would be the greatest loss of all,” Trump said, adding that everyone should follow the guidelines. “The better you do, the faster this whole nightmare will end.”

FDA Now Approves! No more excuses by foot draggers...

Newsweek ^ | 3/30/20 AT 4:12 AM EDT | KASHMIRA GANDER

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of two anti-malaria drugs to treat patients infected by the new coronavirus.

On Sunday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a statement that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine could be prescribed to teens and adults with COVID-19 "as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible," after the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization. (EUA) That marked the first EUA for a drug related to COVID-19 in the U.S., according to the statement.

Currently, there are no specific drugs for COVID-19 which, as shown in the Statista graph below (accurate as of March 26), has sickened over half a million people. According to Johns Hopkins University, over 720,000 cases have been confirmed, more than 34,000 people have died, and over 152,000 have recovered since the pandemic started in China late last year. Amazingly unhelpful Democrat Governors blocking vital medicine to their states:

Commie Kate Brown, the Governor of Oregon just locked down Chloroquine for only hospitalized COVID patients and general non-COVID patients.  And this after the FDA approved it completely!  Despicable!!

Nevada Governor Sisolak bars malaria drugs for coronavirus patients

Nevada’s governor has signed an emergency order barring the use of anti-malaria drugs for someone who has the coronavirus.

Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak’s order Tuesday restricting chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine comes after President Donald Trump touted the medication as a treatment for the virus.

Cuomo limits use of Chloroquine in NY where they really need it! I see that as looked up the Cuomo’s NY EO, 202.10 It’s listed as such blocking until the FDA did the full approval, delaying it for many days unnecessarily:

No pharmacist shall dispense hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine except when written as prescribed for an FDA-approved indication; or as part of a state approved clinical trial related to COVID-19 for a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, with such test result documented as part of the prescription. No other experimental or prophylactic use shall be permitted, and any permitted prescription is limited to one fourteen day prescription with no refills.  Trump bypasses Cuomo - Delivering direct to hospitals so Cuomo can’t hoard them unused.

President Trump said on Monday that he ordered federal officials to send ventilators directly to hospitals — after he blasted New York for leaving equipment untouched at a New Jersey warehouse.

“We’re sending things directly. We’re not sending it to our big storage areas and then picking it up from there,” Trump said in an interview with “Fox & Friends” on Fox News.

Trump added, “I’m saying go directly, send it directly where they need it. Don’t bring it into our factories, our plants, bring it in directly into the site, the hospital or wherever it’s going, and that’s for ventilators and other things.”

On Friday, Trump revealed that the federal government actually sent “thousands” of ventilators for New York to use, but that they were sitting in a warehouse in Edison, New Jersey. “They were in the warehouse, ready to go, and New York never took them,” Trump said.

Cuomo said Friday night the ventilators were still in storage because “the hospitals don’t need them yet … the hospitals have enough ventilators today.”

Michigan Democrat Governor too:

Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump I love Michigan, one of the reasons we are doing such a GREAT job for them during this horrible Pandemic. Yet your Governor, Gretchen “Half” Whitmer is way in over her head, she doesn’t have a clue. Likes blaming everyone for her own ineptitude! #MAGA Whitmer follows Nevada’s Democrat Governor Sisolak in banning the life-saving drugs from coronavirus victims. On Friday coronavirus survivor Jim Santilli blasted Michigan Governor Whitmer after he was saved from the virus by a hydroxychloroquine treatment.

The governor’s radical announcement hit a nerve with a Michigan man who credits the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin with saving his life after he was convinced he was on death’s doorstep after a serious bout with the Chinese coronavirus. Michigan resident, Jim Santilli wrote about his miraculous recovery and shares his feelings about Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s decision to punish doctors who prescribe and pharmacists who give prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine to patients.

As a COVID-19 survivor who is currently recovering, I believe it is important to share my story publicly so others have hope. The sad reality is Michigan’s Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, is failing the people of the state of Michigan. Rather than leading and making good choices that will help our wonderful people during this horrible COVID-19 situation, she continuously chooses to engage in partisan politics. That must end now. Luckily, the infectious disease physicians decided to try a non-approved, experimental combination (Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin). This is the same treatment President Donald Trump recently mentioned at a press conference and continues to be attacked for. After my first dose, I had a major improvement. My gasping for air stopped, and I was in tears of happiness due to having hope restored. I finally felt I would beat COVID-19 and it was no longer beating me."

Pelosi doesn’t Care: “Well, even beyond Twitter, the President of the United States is signaling that he could open it up,” Bash said.

“What is your opinion on that?” Bash said pressing Pelosi.

I don’t care! I don’t care! I don’t care!” Pelosi said as CNN’s Dana Bash brought up Trump’s plans to open America back up for business soon.

“It is not scientific based — he’s notion mongering,” Pelosi slurred.

Of course Pelosi doesn’t care about Americans going back to work. She wants America shut down while she holds the country hostage and tries to shove her Socialist wish list through Congress. HHS accepts donations of medicine to Strategic National Stockpile as possible treatments for COVID-19 patients [no spin HHS press release] Health & Human Services ^ | 3/29/2020 | HHS Press Release

FDA issues emergency use authorization for donated hydroxychloroquine sulfate, chloroquine phosphate

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today accepted 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate donated by Sandoz, the Novartis generics and biosimilars division, and one million doses of chloroquine phosphate donated by Bayer Pharmaceuticals, for possible use in treating patients hospitalized with COVID-19 or for use in clinical trials. These and other companies may donate additional doses, and companies have ramped up production to provide additional supplies of the medication to the commercial market.

“President Trump is taking every possible step to protect Americans from the coronavirus and provide them with hope,” said HHS Secretary Alex Azar. “Scientists in America and around the world have identified multiple potential therapeutics for COVID-19, including chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. The President’s bold leadership and the hard work of FDA and HHS’s Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response have succeeded in securing this large donation of medicine. We’ll continue working around the clock to get American patients access to therapeutics that may help them battle COVID-19, while building the evidence to evaluate which options are effective.”

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to BARDA to allow hydroxychloroquine sulfate and chloroquine phosphate products donated to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) to be distributed and prescribed by doctors to hospitalized teen and adult patients with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible. (Excerpt) Read more at ... The French War for Chloroquine anyhow to use it right...  Respected Professor Christian Perronne talked about the theft live in one of France’s 24/7 info channels: “The central pharmacy for the hospitals announced today that they were facing a total rupture of stocks, that they were pillaged.” French professor Didier Raoult, biologist and professor of microbiology, specializes in infectious diseases and director of IHU Mediterranee Infection Institute, Raoult was part of a clinical trial that in which hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin healed 90% of Covid-19 cases if they were tested very early. (Early, massive testing is at the heart of the successful South Korean strategy.)

Raoult is opposed to the total lockdown of sane individuals and possible carriers – which he considers “medieval,” in an anachronistic sense. He’s in favor of massive testing (which, besides South Korea, was successful in Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam) and a fast treatment with hydroxychloroquine. Only contaminated individuals should be confined. In quick succession:

  • The Macron government refuses to apply mass testing, as practiced with success in South Korea and Germany.

  • Le Monde and the French state health agency characterize Raoult’s research as fake news, before issuing a retraction.

  • Professor Perrone reveals on the 24/7 LCI news channel that the stock of chloroquine at the French central pharmacy has been stolen.

  • Thanks to a tweet by Elon Musk, President Trump says chloroquine should be available to all AmericansSufferers of lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, who already have supply problems with the only drug that offers them relief, set social media afire with their panic.

  • US doctors and other medical professionals take to hoarding the medicine for the use of themselves and those close to them, faking prescriptions to indicate they are for patients with lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Morocco buys the stock of chloroquine from Sanofi in Casablanca.

  • Pakistan decides to increase its production of chloroquine to be sent to China.

  • Switzerland discards the total lockdown of its population; goes for mass testing and fast treatment; and accuses France of practicing “spectacle politics.”

  • Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, having had himself treated with chloroquine, without any government input, directly calls Sanofi so they may deliver chloroquine to Nice hospitals.

  • Because of Raoult’s research, a large-scale chloroquine test finally starts in France, under the – predictable – direction of INSERM, which wants to “remake the experiments in other independent medical centers.” This will take at least an extra six weeks – as the Elysee Palace’s scientific council now mulls the extension of France’s total lockdown to … six weeks.

As Bugault told me, “test kits – very few in number – were always available but mostly for a small group connected to the French government [ former officials of the Ministry of Finance, CEOs of large corporations, oligarchs, media and entertainment moguls]. Same for chloroquine, which this government did everything to make inaccessible for the population. They did not make life easy for Professor Raoult – he received death threats and was intimidated by ‘journalists.’

In an explosive development on Tuesday, Raoult said he’s not participating in Macron’s scientific council anymore, even though he’s not quitting it altogether. Raoult once again insists on massive testing on a national scale to detect suspected cases, and then isolate and treat patients who tested positive. In a nutshell: the South Korean model.

That’s exactly what is expected from the IHU in Marseille, where hundreds of residents continue to queue up for testing. And that ties in with the conclusions by a top Chinese expert on Covid-19, Zhang Nanshan, who says that treatment with chloroquine phospate had a “positive impact,” with patients testing negative after around four days. The key point has been stressed by Raoult: Use chloroquine in very special circumstances, for people tested very early, when the disease is not advanced yet, and only in these cases.  For years, Raoult has been pleading for a drastic revision of health economic models, so the treatments, cure and therapies created mostly during the 20th century, are considered a patrimony in the service of all humanity.“That’s not the case”, he says, “because we abandon medicine that is not profitable, even if it’s effective. That’s why almost no antibiotics are manufactured in the West.” On Tuesday, the French Health Ministry officially prohibited the utilization of treatment based on chloroquine recommended by Raoult. In fact the treatment is only allowed for terminal Covid-19 patients, with no other possibility of healing.  On Wednesday, commenting on the new government guidelines, Raoult said, “When damage to the lungs is too important, and patients arrive for reanimation, they practically do not harbor viruses in their bodies any more. It’s too late to treat them with chloroquine.

Are these the only cases – the very serious cases – that will be treated with chloroquine under the new directive by [French Health Minister] Veran?” If so, he added ironically, “then they will be able to say with scientific certainty that chloroquine does not work.”

Here is a video made from lung imagery of a 59 year old man.  See link for video.

Mortman explained that the damage is not isolated to one single part of the lung, but rather “both lungs diffusely,” and lasting damage could be caused beyond recovery.  When that inflammation does not subside with time, then it becomes essentially scarring in the lungs, creating long-term damage,” he said. “It could impact somebody’s ability to breathe in the long term.”

The Empire State Building was turned into a flashing siren tonight

It was supposed to represent America's heartbeat. One of the creepiest things I have ever seen!

Very creepy and alarming in video...

Up to 25 percent of those who contract the CCP virus may never show symptoms, one of the top public health officials in the United States asserted this week.

One of the pieces of information that researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have learned recently, agency director Robert Redfield said this week, is that “a significant number of individuals that are infected actually remain asymptomatic.” “That may be as many as 25 percent. That’s important, because now you have individuals that may not have any symptoms that can contribute to transmission, and we have learned that in fact they do contribute to transmission,” Redfield told WABEon Monday.

Important to know:

The ways that you get this is the transmission of the virus almost exclusively from your hands to your face, from your hands to your face and inside your eyes, into your nose or into your mouth. So there’s a lot of talk about contact or getting it through contacts, hands to face… The overwhelming majority of people are getting this by physically touching someone who has this disease or will develop it in the next one to two days and then touching their face.”

Chinese not helping... How do you get 80% failure rate?

The Czech newspaper Irozhlas (I-Radio) reports that the bigshots in Beijing sent 150,000 coronavirus rapid testing kits to Czechia which return false results up to 80% of the time. Forgive the rough Google Translate results, but I don't speak Czech:

"We checked them on Saturday at the University Hospital Ostrava, but unfortunately the error rate was quite high, so now we are waiting for the results of further testing across the country, they have never been tested positively because it works with antibodies," said Svrčinová.She added that the tests showed false positive and false negative results. "We tested those who searched for a sampling site. Fortunately, we were so far-sighted that samples were immediately taken for the classic examination and that just proved the error rate of the tests," said Svrčinová. Even if tests are used in end-of-quarantine patients, hygienists will want to check their reliability first.

Dr. Deborah Birx Says Coronavirus Would Have Killed 1.6 to 2.2 Million Americans if Top Health Officials Did Not Push Lockdown and Ruin US Economy (VIDEO)

Dr. Fauci told Jake Tapper that "Looking at what we are seeing now, I would say between 100,000-200,000” deaths from the coronavirus. “We’re going to have millions of cases," he added.

"But it's such a moving target and you could so easily be wrong...what we do know is we have a serious problem in New York, we have a serious problem in New Orleans and we're going to be developing serious problems in other areas. Although people like to model it, let's just look at the data that we have, and not worry about these worst case and best case scenarios.

"There are things called models, and when someone creates a model, they put in various assumptions. And the model is only as good and as accurate as your assumptions.

That last clip is really something: but the takeaway from the interview is this: prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. The result is going to depend on whether millions of Americans do their part not to spread the virus. So, instead of focusing on the projections, focus on reacting to the situation at hand.

A massive 552 members of the New York City Police Department have tested positive for the coronavirus, including 442 officers.

Additionally, 4,111 NYPD officers are now on sick leave, which accounts for 11.4 percent of the department’s uniformed force. New York has become the US epicenter of the outbreak. As of Friday evening, there have been 25,500 confirmed cases of the Chinese virus and 366 deaths in the five boroughs.

(Note: It's even worse in Chicago)

Good news though:

Alliance of MDs, researchers and companies find 69 drugs already in use that should theoretically fight the Coronavirus! This analysis included chloroquine on the list.

Not just the old. See here:

A plurality of COVID-19 cases in New York City are among those aged 18 to 44, but severity rates tend to follow global trends when it comes to age and underlying conditions, data from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reveals.

Of the 15,597 confirmed as of Tuesday afternoon, 7,094, or 46 percent, were in patients below the 45. In that age group, 9 percent of people with the novel coronavirus have been hospitalized, and there have been five deaths.

All told, the data suggests the city is in line with other countries like Italy, which has reported that the majority of patients experiencing severe cases of COVID-19 are in older age groups, though that certainly doesn't mean younger people aren't at risk. In New York, more than one-fifth of fatalities have occurred in the 45 to 64 range.

National Guard and former military being called up and deployed:

Boots are already on the ground in neighborhoods across the nation as 3,300 Air and Army National Guardsmen have been called up in some 30 states and US territories, including California and New York.

In Philadelphia, for example, the Police Department has been instructed its offices to temporarily stop making arrests for certain nonviolent crimes – including drug offenses, burglary, economic theft and vandalism – until next month amid the coronavirus outbreak.  According to the memo, obtained by The Philadelphia Inquirer, arresting officers would detain the offender, process the paperwork, and then release the offender back into the general population. The announcement came 24 hours after Philadelphia courts closed until April 1 to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, across the country in Fort Worth, Texas, the police will cease arresting people for “low-level crimes” – Class C misdemeanors such as thefts involving less than $100 and vandalism – if a citation can be issued in its place, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

Social Distancing works: Quarantining infected people and their family members, closing schools, and imposing workplace distancing and homeworking can all limit the spread, the study found, but a combination of all three is most effective in reducing cases.

Published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases journal, the study, conducted by researchers from the National University of Singapore (NUS), looked at a simulated Singapore setting to analyse the potential impact of social distancing policies.

It found that while less effective than the combined three-pronged approach, quarantine plus workplace measures presented the next best option for reducing COVID-19 cases, followed by quarantine plus school closure, and then quarantine only.

They are actually down to no gathering > 2 in the UK and Germany...

Groceries should improve somewhat: Food that normally would have gone to restaurants is being repurposed to grocery stores.  People are laying off on restaurant supply jobs and hiring at groceries jobs:

Cuomo averts having his whole state locked down with a full quarantine by taking action:

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced orders for residents to stay at home over rising COVID-19 concerns — and said that the lockdown could last up to four months. In a Friday press conference, Cuomo said that the stay at home order could last, “two, three, four months.” “This is the most drastic action we can take,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo said that things like “solitary exercise” would be allowed, but that the state would be “aggressive” in enforcing the rules.

The move follows California Governor Gavin Newsom’s shelter in place order from Thursday. “This is not life as usual. Accept it. Realize it. And deal with it,” Cuomo said. He asked the public to “remain indoors to the greatest extent possible to protect physical and mental health. Your actions can affect my health; that’s where we are. We are all in quarantine.

The governor said that mass transit, restaurants, food delivery and banks would remain open. A full list of businesses that are allowed to remain open is expected to be released on Friday afternoon. “Non-essential” businesses will be closed.

“These are legal provisions,” Cuomo said. “They will be enforced.”

“I am not kidding about this,” the governor added.
